New Site With Some History of Rantoul

Elizabeth Delacruz, who grew up in Rantoul and is now a professor in art and design at the University of Illinois, has started a new website with some nice history and pictures of Rantoul.  Elizabeth said that she is still working on the site and would like for it to be a "scrapbook of Rantoul".  You can check it out at http://bit.ly/newrantoul and I will also put a link in the Local Links Section.  Nice job Elizabeth!

Attention Car Enthusiasts, Volunteers Needed !!

Are you into cars, particularly Pre 1949 Street Rods?  If so, a national Street Rod Event and Show is about to take place in your back yard!  The AMERICAN STREET ROD ASSOCIATION (ASRA) is preparing to hold its VINTAGE WEEKEND Street Rod Event at the Rantoul Airport, on Septembr 24, 25, 26th, 2010.

In order to hold such an event a large number of volunteers are needed with a variety of capabilities.  Whether you are into Street Rods or you just want to participate in a huge regional event, this is your opportunity to get involved and be an "ASRA EVENT VOLUNTEER".  Your volunteer involvement is up to you - it can be just an hour of your time or you can perform a major function on one of our committees.  This fantastic event will showcase many of the Nations Finest Street Rods and the economic impact to the Champaign County region will be significant.  As a Volunteer you can help and in doing so you will acquire event perks that only ASRA Event Volunteers can receive.

Now is the time and the oppoorunity to get involved.  To find out how you can be an ASRA Event volunteer and to learn what your involvement can be, please attend the ASRA Event Volunteer meeting at the Chanute Air Museum, 1011 Pacesetter Dr., Rantoul, Illinois, on Thursday, June 15th, @ 6:30 pm

We look forward to working with you as an ASRA Event Volunteer and as a team member promoting this American Street Rod Association Event.  If you have any questions and or you are unable to attend the June 17th meeting but would like to help please contact Steve Hancock @ 217-379-6024 or 217-304-0820.
